Dennington Longsword

This distinctive mid-15thC Medieval longsword is closely based on the one worn by Lord William Bardolf on his effigy in St Marys Church in Dennington, UK.

The sword features a gentle fish tail pommel, not an extreme gothic version as favoured later in the century, a cord bound leather grip with strong facets ensuring great edge alignment, a finely detailed octagonal guard and a strong type 18 blade, 7mm thick at the hilt.

Although he was chamberlain to Henry IV the sword itself is not at all ostentatious so would suit both humble knights and high members of the court.

The sword comes with a leather covered wood cored scabbard and embossed belts finished with copper alloy chape and fittings. The scabbard can be re-rigged to be left handed but because of the work involved there will be an additional charge of £30 payable before shipping.

Edge sharpness

Semi-Sharp is ‘butter knife sharp’; it has a very fine flat on the edge. Sharp has been ground to give a reasonable cutting edge, but final honing, if required, is by the customer.
