Description

Walnut ‘Chandler’ is a reliable and high-yielding form of the English walnut, valued for its attractive foliage, consistent cropping, and strong garden presence. It develops into a handsome deciduous tree with a broad canopy, bringing long-term structure and seasonal interest to wildlife-friendly spaces.

In spring, walnut produces distinctive catkins, supporting a range of insects as the season begins. As the tree matures, its branching framework provides nesting opportunities for birds and shelter for invertebrates. In autumn, the developing nuts add further ecological value, becoming part of the wider garden food web.

‘Chandler’ is particularly known for its productive cropping once established, making it a rewarding choice for those wanting both edible harvests and habitat value. It thrives in a sunny, sheltered position with well-drained soil and, given time, becomes a true legacy tree.

Supplied as an established tree in a 7 litre container.
Eventual size: approx. 8–10m tall x 6–8m spread.

While self-fertile, walnut trees may produce heavier crops if another walnut variety is planted nearby.
